Work Place Mediation

Workplace mediation

Workplace mediation is a cost-effective, easy and fast way to resolve employment workplace conflict. Workplace mediation has become the fastest-growing alternative route to grievance, employment tribunals and discipline procedures. When working within a workplace mediation, I always ensure that both parties are listened to and given the opportunity to put their points across, this helps to facilitate a more constructive dialogue that works towards a mutually agreed resolution.

Why use workplace mediation?

Workplace conflict is sometimes unavoidable. Our workplaces are made up of differing characters, who hold individual beliefs and ideologies, which go towards making a creative environment. However, we can also find that as much as we value people's thoughts on how an issue should be resolved, it can also lead to workplace disputes which can be harmful to your employees and your business.

Workplace mediation is an effective means of dealing with such disputes in a direct, supportive and secure manner, which looks to achieve a speedy resolution to issues before they escalate.

Mediation can be used to tackle a number of common workplace disputes including:

  • When there is a breakdown in the working relationship between individuals or teams
  • Grievance or disciplinary proceedings
  • If there have been allegations of bullying or harassment
  • Contract or salary disputes
  • We can also help with disputes at Senior Management or Board level conflict
  • Highlight issues to improve behaviour, attitude and communication

If you have an employment or workplace issue which does not fall into one of these areas? Get in touch to find out how I can help your dispute, or explore our other mediation services, my initial consultation calls are free of charge.

Online workplace mediation

As well as face-to-face mediation, I also offer online workplace mediation and I can mediate from anywhere in the country. Clients have informed me that this is an ideal solution for individuals who would prefer to mediate without being together in the same room or cannot travel to meet. Online mediation also means that there is minimum disruption to your working day as it removes the need for travel and waiting times.

How does workplace mediation work?

Every workplace mediation case I have ever worked on has been different and due to this, I ensure that I tailor my sessions to the needs of each party, This way I can ensure that everybody involved in the process feels as comfortable as possible.

This is how one of my workplace mediations services works:

1 Telephone Contact with myself

I will conduct a no obligation free of charge consultation call, to see if I am the best-placed person to help you. From here I will make individual calls to both parties, with a view to setting up private meetings, either face to face or online.

2 Individual Private Meetings

Parties must agree to take part in workplace mediation before the process can go ahead. I will liaise with all participants to set up an individual private and confidential session. During these meetings, I will listen to each party's concerns and answer any questions about the process.

3 Workplace mediation session

I will conduct a meeting either face to face or online, during which I will ensure each person feels able to say all that they need to say. I will also help everyone involved reach a mutually agreed solution with a constructive, fair conversation between all parties. Within this meeting, we encourage the other party to listen to the other side and look to find self-generated solutions.

4 Find solutions

Ultimately, I look to help workplaces and employees positively move forward with long-lasting solutions which look to repair relationships.

I have been involved in alternative dispute resolution for over a decade and will always look to give you peace of mind and reassurance that I will work in a manner which achieves the following outstanding service and satisfactory outcomes

  • Quick and cost-effective
  • Less formal
  • Confidential
  • Flexible
  • Voluntary

Conflict Prevention Coaching

Organisations have approached me in the past when they have been faced with conflict in the workplace that has required immediate attention. However, many of the issues that I have helped them deal with could have been avoided if issues had been dealt with earlier by taking a different approach.

As I have become more aware of this, I have designed conflict prevention coaching sessions. Within these sessions, I will work with you and your employees, to help raise awareness and build a positive ‘prevention’ culture. The benefits of adopting this culture will mean that your business understands its employee's needs on a greater level and have the skills to minimise potential conflicts and disputes. These sessions will also provide the following.

  • Improve, communication and employee engagement
  • Help to reduce staff absences and disengagement arising from conflict
  • Analyse where motivation and productivity can be improved.

What can you expect from a workplace mediation?

An effecting and informal way of resolving employment and workplace disputes.

The sessions will be made as comfortable as possible. From my experience of working in dispute resolution, I can understand that workplace disputes can make people feel uncomfortable and, in some cases, even scared, this is why I designed my workplace mediations to be relaxed and supportive to help you feel at ease throughout the entire process.

I will help you to

  • Help you understand how the mediation process works, as well as what to expect and how everyone will need to prepare for it.
  • Reassure everyone that the mediation sessions are confidential and private.
  • Act as a neutral party - I will always be impartial between parties, conducting the sessions in a way that enables an equal opportunity for everybody involved.
  • Use clear and easy-to-understand language.
  • Provide opportunities for everyone to ask questions, especially if you are unsure about the process.
  • Help to guide all parties towards amicable and self-generated.
